Mongolia has come a long way to be what it is today. Modern Mongolia has an interesting mix of traditional foods and foreign foods. Its economy struggled for a long time, but recently turned around and entered 2013 with one of the world's fastest growing economies. Its three million people practice a wide variety of professions. People living on the Mongolian Plateau live a more traditional lifestyle as nomadic herders. Those who live in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, work in restaurants, schools, hospitals, law, as artists or actors, and for the government, as well as other things.
